Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring will be leaving the National Women’s Hall of Fame the week of October 5, 2026.
Created by artist, filmmaker, and Webby Awards founder Tiffany Shlain, Dendrofemonology reimagines the traditional tree-ring timeline through the history of women and power.
Made from reclaimed deodar cedar, the work distills 50,000 years of feminist history into 32 key moments, each burned directly into the wood using pyrography. The result is a striking visual reminder that women’s history stretches far beyond the stories most of us were taught.
The moveable monument has traveled across the country, with stops in Washington, D.C., Madison Square Park in New York City, St. Louis, San Francisco, and now Seneca Falls.
