Linda Alvarado

Linda Grace Martinez de Sandoval Alvarado is a builder—of physical structures and opportunities. In this interview, she takes us from her early years growing up poor in Albuquerque, New Mexico, through founding her first company in the 1970s, and into the present, where she is a giant in commercial and industrial construction, and co-owner of a major league baseball team, the Colorado Rockies. From her mother, Linda learned early to challenge assumptions and expectations of what girls could or should do—whether playing basketball or donning a hard hat. With courage, wit, and intelligence, this change-maker shares her inspiring story, one that moves Latinas from the margins to the center of American history.
