The National Women’s Hall of Fame is the nation’s first and foremost nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of remarkable American women. We seek to engage every generation in celebrating the achievements of women who change the world.

Founded in 1969 in Seneca Falls, New York, the birthplace of the American women’s rights movement, the Hall elevates women’s voices, equips and empowers changemakers, and advances gender equity through action, education, and storytelling.

The National Women’s Hall of Fame has grown to include more than 300 extraordinary women including scientists, artists, educators, activists, athletes, business leaders, and others whose impact continues to shape our world.

We are dedicated to:

  • Celebrating and honoring the achievements of distinguished American women
  • Educating and inspiring the public about the diverse ways women have shaped our history and culture
  • Empowering future generations to continue the pursuit of equality and excellence

Ours is a living institution that hosts a prestigious biennial Induction Ceremony to recognize new honorees. In addition, we maintain a growing digital archive of stories, photographs, and educational resources. Our organization offers exhibits, public programs, and youth engagement initiatives that highlight the voices and visions of women across all walks of life.

Our museum’s home is the historic Seneca Knitting Mill, a restored 1844 mill on the banks of the Cayuga Seneca Canal. This iconic space now serves as our permanent home, a place where visitors can explore interactive exhibits, gather for community events, and be inspired by the women who dared to change the world.
