DESCRIPTION:The Right to Vote: An Ongoing Fight\nThe National Women’s Hall of Fame is excited to partner with the League of Women Voters for our October forum!\n\nDate: October 1\, 2020\nTime: 7:00pm-8:00pm EDT\n\nThis is a FREE event!\nPre-registration is required due to sessions having limited capacities to encourage participation. Donations are encouraged and appreciated.\n\nThis live virtual event will feature a moderated conversation with featured speaker\, Deborah Turner\, MD\, JD\, who will discuss the history and importance of voting as well as expanding voter access. Considering it is the 100-year anniversary of the 19th Amendment\, and an election year\, this topic is especially relevant!\n\n\nMeet the Feature Speaker!\n\nDeborah Turner\, MD\, JD\, serves as the 20th president of the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and chair of the Board of Trustees of the League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF). She was elected board president at the 54th National Convention of the League of Women Voters in June of 2020 and will serve in this position until June 2022.\n\n\nTurner was elected to the League’s national board of directors in 2016 where she served on the Finance committee\, Governance Committee\, and chaired the Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. As chair of the DEI Committee\, Deborah and her colleagues focused on organizational culture changes to the League’s mission work\, emphasizing not only racial equity but also intergenerational dynamics\, socioeconomic differences\, gender identity\, and interpersonal engagement.\n\n\nLearn more about National Women’s Hall of Fame forums.
